Voneus broadband status update
April 15th 2019
As you may know Voneus has been going through a protracted fundraising exercise, which is now coming to an end. This means that we will have the working capital to fund this and other projects effectively, taking into account that the deployment into a new area is in the order of many tens of thousands of pounds. It has taken us a lot longer than we anticipated to complete this process and it has meant a delay in terms of our ability to fund new communities like Dadford (whilst simultaneously maintaining the existing communities that we provide a service to).
The end result is, therefore, good news and in the spirit of getting the project moving again I have today ordered a fibre circuit to the location in Stowe School that they have granted us permission to install our equipment onto. This has direct line of sight back to the equipment that we have already installed and with it (the fibre) being installed by BT OpenReach on behalf of Vodafone (our provider in this case) we should be able to commence a working Superfast service.
There are still some steps to go including the final permissions from the school, the BT OpenReach process followed by Vodafone and some work to update and add to the equipment installed already. I suspect this process will take approximately 3 months, but less if they are able to leverage the spare fibre allegedly already present in the target building.
Once this process is a little further down the line we will make an announcement to all the contacts we have in the database but if you are liaising with them directly do feel free to update as required.
Finally, we regret that there has been a delay but as you know we have previously been scuppered by the race track and then followed by BT last year. Then the project got shelved whilst we completed this process. But we very much look forward to getting this back up and running again.
